I wanted to explore how ml4 would be able to communicate with other programs like Unity. After doing some research on what value doodle classifier sends out and what type of value unity OSC would receive, I made a very simple communication between them.

Pet temperature alarming device

For the final project, I want to create something personal and is needed to be created. Continuing from my never-finished first GPS project for my dog Mellow, I want to make a uv detector collar for her for the summer.

Inspired by my pcomp final idea about creating a lighting screen, I decided to create an enclosure to be one of the prototype modules.

The project started with a discussion with my groupmate Eva sharing our own thoughts on what we want to do and made a decision on making a candy dispenser that is controlled by a game on p5 that controlled by analog inputs from Arduino and then activates the motor to dispense candy from a skull container.

A series of daily objects with silicone molding tools that help humans in their everyday life, such as toothbrushes, hair comb, etc. I wanted to make these objects as "realistic" as possible so that when I present them, there was an expectation and then a surprise.

“24/7“

The work “24/7“ is to explore the notion of self through the perception of time.

It is an installation that is composed of two sets of 7 standing alone devices that represent strokes of the Chinese character “self“ and "you".  Each set of the 7 devices mimics the progression of time in the way that each stroke will be rotating with a central axis like clock needles. All "strokes" are placed in a way to be perceived separately as the word “self“ every 60 seconds/ 1 minute and  the word “you“ every 60 minutes/ 1 hour.

作品“24/7”, “七天二十四小时”以时间为媒介,以实体装置为形式探索了现实中“自我”与“他人”的关系。此作品由两组七个独立部件的装置组成,每一个独立部件代表着“我”和“你”的笔画且围绕着各自的中心轴就像时钟上的指针一样模仿时间的进程。 当两组装置被各自放置在一起时,每过六十秒“我”字会出现一次,每过六十分钟“你”字会出现一次。

Ripple 涟漪

“Ripple” is an exploration of self, manifesting the unnoted and forgotten segments of everyday events. The computer generated graphics materialize the normally unseen traces and affects of what we consider mundane actions, which reveals the notion of how a single action can have a dramatic impact.

作品”涟漪”是对自身和日常事件中不受关注,被遗忘部分的探索。我以计算机编程作为媒介具体化了我们认为是世俗行为的通常看不到的痕迹,揭示了单一行为能够产生的巨大影响

Product design

A circular paper structure is designed to contain figs and reflect the directional membrane inner structure.

The direction of the fig’s seeds is dependent on the membrane. In its closed form, they are oriented towards the center of the fig. When the fig is opened, Since the seeds are lined up on the membrane perpendicularly, they will reflect the membrane’s shape of expanding and compressing.
