The project aims to challenge and explore spatial design by addressing virtual reality as a new art medium instead of a tool to recreate and replicate the existing environment. The project is composed of seven worlds in total: The Palace of the Parallel, the World of Surrealism, the World of Lightness, the World of Displacement, the World of Perception, the World of Texture and the World of Force. Within each designed virtual environment, Sensory perception is deeply informed by the combination of objective properties of light, color, materials, subjective responses, and environmental context.

ITP THESIS PRESENTATION
Background
With my background in Interior Design, the project derived from the interest and curiosity in what more Virtual reality can bring into the spatial design than being a visualizing tool.
Ideation
“ The world becomes theirs the moment they enter it“.
Inspired by Jonathan Turner, the project explores possibilities in fostering a space where people can pay more attention to and really reflect on.
Scholarly Research
Research in scholarly articles and books about Architecture, Sensory perception, and storytelling.
Precedent Research
Research in precedents about sensual experience, light, material, color, composition, and perception.
3D Modeling
Seven individual worlds were designed and built in 3D software including SketchUp and Rhino.
World of Surrealism
Spatial Design
The design of the seven individual worlds is deeply informed by the combination of objective properties of light, color, materials, subjective responses, and environmental context.
User Experience
The development of connecting all seven worlds as a single narrative.
Unreal Engine 4 VR Development
Seven individual worlds were visualized, simulated, and launched in Virtual Reality with Unreal Engine 4.
Each world has its own environmental music composed in collaboration with composer Sachiko Nakajima.
Playtest & Revision
The project was distributed and playtested as a first-person perspective computer game due to the pandemic.
Launching Trailer
The launching trailer was created in Unreal Engine 4 Cinematic, then edited in Adobe premiere.
